In 2019, many important events shaped global and national history. In India, the Narendra Modi government returned to power after winning the 2019 Indian General Election, strengthening the ruling party’s position in the country. One of the major policy decisions was the revocation of Article 370 of the Constitution of India, which changed the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
India also made progress in space exploration with the launch of Chandrayaan-2 by Indian Space Research Organisation, aiming to explore the Moon’s south pole. Although the lander lost communication, the mission was considered a major technological achievement.
